"American Psycho", originally a novel by Bret Easton Ellis, is a satire on the consumerism and materialism of the 1980s. The story of Patrick Bateman, a yuppie from Wall Street and a maniacal murderer, gained enormous popularity thanks to the 2000 film adaptation, in which the lead role was played by Christian Bale. However, Guadagnino's upcoming film will not be a typical remake of that picture, but rather a new interpretation of the novel.
