Moldova and Romania report Russian drone intrusions
The President of Moldova, Maia Sandu, reported a violation of Moldovan airspace by Russian drones. The Romanian Ministry of Defense noted a similar incident.
Maia Sandu announced that on Thursday morning, Russian drones violated the airspace of her country. She shared this information on social media, attaching a photo of a fragment of a destroyed drone.
"The Republic of Moldova has not attacked anyone, we have not entered any foreign territory, nor have we engaged in conflict with any other state; neutrality is enshrined in our constitution. The Republic of Moldova has always promoted and worked towards peace. However, Russian drones and bombs are landing and exploding in our villages. It must be admitted, we do not have the necessary capabilities to defend against them," she wrote.
Two drones fell on the territory of Moldova. "One fell in a field near Ciumai in Taraclia, and the other exploded in a field near Ceadîr-Lunga. The areas have been isolated, and there is currently no danger to citizens," Sandu emphasized.
This is not the first time Moldova has faced such situations. In October last year, authorities in Chișinău reported remnants of a missile found near the border with Ukraine.
Incident in Romania
Also on Thursday, the Ministry of Defense of Romania reported a possible airspace violation by Russian drones. According to their report, the incident occurred during a night raid by Russian drones over Ukraine.
Two drones may have entered Romanian territory, with more details to be known after thorough examinations of the site where one of the drones crashed.
