Meta updates the Messenger app. Among the new features are HD-quality video calls, and artificial intelligence will play a greater role. Here are the details of the latest update.
Messenger is evolving before our eyes. The next update brings a variety of enhancements. Meta recognizes the potential of artificial intelligence and simultaneously improves video call quality. The list of new features doesn't stop there—here's everything that awaits users in the improved version of the app.
Messenger update: what's new?
From now on, Messenger users can enjoy HD video during calls and a noise isolation feature that reduces background noise, boosting the overall quality of conversations. The new options can be enabled in call settings. HD calls will be available by default when using Wi-Fi, and this option will be selectable for cellular networks.
There's more. Messenger will also enable users to leave a voice or video message when the recipient is unavailable, acting as a digital voicemail service. In case of a missed call, press the "Record Message" button to send an audio or video recording.
Messenger and artificial intelligence
Additionally, for iOS devices, Messenger will be integrated with the Siri assistant. Users can ask the voice assistant to send a message or make a call, making communication easier.
Meta will soon introduce AI-generated backgrounds during video calls. To use them, tap the "Effects" icon on the sidebar during a call and select the "Backgrounds" option.
