Andriy Kovalenko, head of the Center for Counteracting Disinformation of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, points out that Moscow is promoting the idea of a higher nuclear war threat than during the Cuban Missile Crisis. The Kremlin's goal is to scare the West and impact aid for Ukraine.
- At the same time, in the Global South, Russia avoids addressing this topic because it understands that it depends on China and India. Even in terms of information, Russia's strategy will be noticeable - added Kovalenko.
High Representative of the EU Josep Borrell stated that he "sees no connection" between the U.S. decision to allow Ukraine to strike Russia with long-range weapons and a hypothetical nuclear war.
Russia is trying to change the course of support for Ukraine, using various disinformation tools. The Kremlin wants to scare the West.
Putin signed a decree
Let us recall that the updated doctrine by Putin suggests that the basis for a nuclear attack could be "any aggression against Russia by a non-nuclear state supported by a nuclear power will be viewed as a joint attack," as well as a massive air attack with non-nuclear means, including drones.
Immediately after the document was published, Putin's press secretary Dmitry Peskov spoke. He said that the changes should be seen as a "message to the West." - Any aggression against Russia by a non-nuclear state supported by a nuclear power will be viewed as a joint attack - said Peskov.
