Despite the defeat, King Charles III issued an official thank-you to the English national football team, which lost to Spain in the final of Euro 2024. The monarch stated that reaching such a tournament stage is already a success, after which "they can hold their heads high."

Euro 2024 is now part of history. The winner of the European competition turned out to be Spain, who defeated the England team 2-1 in the final. This marks the second consecutive EURO final loss for the "Sons of Albion"—in the previous tournament, held four years ago, England lost to Italy after a penalty shootout.

Right after the game ended, the faces of the English players and coaching staff showed true devastation. However, the British monarch, King Charles III, gave a boost to the English team.

King Charles and Prince William proud of the players. Support despite the loss

He issued an official statement in which he expressed his pride in the performance of the English team. Charles III assured that their performance compels them to "hold their heads high" despite the result, which did not bring ultimate victory.

Know that your success of reaching the European Championship final is a great achievement that brings with it the pride of the entire nation. It will roar for the "Three Lions" not only today but also in many other moments of triumph that surely await in the future - the monarch conveyed.

At the match was also King Charles III's son, Prince William. The heir apparent to the British throne supported the English team along with his son George. He also decided to publish a brief statement, clearly in the tone of the royal declaration.

This time it just wasn't meant to be. We are all proud of you. Forward. W.
