Kate Beckinsale is primarily associated with the "Underworld" series, which ensured her recognition for many years. Recently, the actress has not been playing in big Hollywood productions. In 2023, viewers could watch her in the film "The Lucky One," which likely few people in Canada have heard of. However, Beckinsale is very active on social media, followed by over 5 million users. A few months ago, she announced that she had been hospitalized. What happened to her?

On March 11 at 2 PM Eastern Time, the actress informed that she had been hospitalized. Disturbing photos of the star from the hospital bed began circulating on social media. "It’s the emotional toll of Kate’s recent experiences. While taking care of Roy, she looked strong, but secretly cried more than once. She had been living in inhuman tension for months. She hardly slept and didn’t eat," cited the "Daily Mail" from its source.
For a long time, the actress refrained from explanations. Now, she has stopped being silent on the matter—provoked by a hate comment. In a video where she appeared in a skimpy, pink outfit revealing a lot of skin, someone straightforwardly told her to exercise because she had lost her buttocks.
"No, I saw my stepfather die quickly and shockingly, my mom has stage 4 cancer, and I lost quite a few kilograms (about 10 pounds) quickly from stress and grief," the actress wrote. "And then I was hospitalized for six weeks because grief burned a hole in my esophagus, which caused me to vomit large amounts of blood, and eating was practically out of the question," she explained. She also added that she had been working on a new film recently, whose theme coincided with what she experienced after her stepfather’s death. "I’m not interested in what you think about my butt. Maybe think about your own," she retorted.
In the summer of 2023, Kate Beckinsale’s stepfather, Roy Battersby, was diagnosed with two cancers. He died on January 10, 2024. She was very close to him. Roy replaced her biological father, whom she lost when she was 5 years old. Recently, the actress learned that her mom is also seriously ill with cancer.
