Japanese icon Miho Nakayama's tragic passing at 54
Miho Nakayama has died at the age of 54. The Japanese singer and actress, who had been on stage for four decades, was found dead in her bathtub.
Miho Nakayama debuted as a singer in 1985 and released over 20 albums, the last one five years ago. Simultaneously, she developed her acting career. She gained international fame for her role in the film "Love Letter". She also appeared in productions such as "Tokyo Biyori" and "Maido Osawagase Shimasu".
The performer, who had been working for four decades, cancelled her last holiday performance due to health issues.
"Unfortunate accident"
Miho Nakayama, a well-known Japanese singer and actress, passed away suddenly in her apartment in Tokyo. Scmp Portal reported that on December 5, the artist was found dead in the bathtub. She was 54 years old.
Her official website states that the cause of death was "an unfortunate accident that occurred during a bath". An autopsy was performed, and the police do not suspect any foul play.
Nakayama's death is a significant loss to Japanese culture. Director Shunji Iwai, who collaborated with her on the film "Love Letter," bid farewell to his colleague with poignant words.

Following the artist's death, a statement was also issued by colleagues from the company managing her career.
