The Israeli army continues its operation in the Gaza Strip. On Thursday, a school in the area was shelled. Israel claims that Hamas terrorists were hiding in the facility. At least 15 people were killed, and 29 were injured.

The Israeli side also assures that before conducting the airstrike, the army did everything possible to ensure that no civilians in the Gaza Strip would become casualties. However, it does not provide details.

"Before the strike, a number of steps were taken to reduce the risk of harming uninvolved civilians during the strike," emphasized the Israeli military in a statement.

The army once again accused Hamas of deliberately using civilian infrastructure for its purposes.

War in Israel. Huge number of casualties

The longstanding conflict between Palestinian Hamas and Israel entered a new phase in the fall of 2023 when Hamas carried out a terrorist attack on Israel. 1,200 people were killed, and 251 were kidnapped. 111 hostages are still in captivity.

In response, Israel began bombing the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip and later launched a ground operation. According to the Hamas-controlled Palestinian Ministry of Health, over 39,400 Palestinians have already been killed in the Israeli army’s actions. Moreover, 331 Israeli soldiers have died in the ground offensive in the Gaza Strip.

At the same time, there is ongoing conflict with the Lebanese Hezbollah, which Israel accuses of Saturday’s attack on the town of Majdal Shams in the Israeli-controlled Golan Heights, in which 12 children and teenagers were killed.

The situation in the Middle East is the most tense in months. On Tuesday, an Israeli attack on Beirut killed a Hezbollah military leader. On Wednesday, a strike attributed to Israel killed Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran. Both the leaders of Iran, Hezbollah, and Hamas have already announced retaliation.
