Ipswich Town has clinched a spot in the Premier League. Consequently, the players celebrated with a party featuring the team's most celebrated fan - the immensely famous singer Ed Sheeran.

Last weekend was a festive time for Ipswich Town players and supporters alike. The team clinched a 2:0 victory over Huddersfield in the regular Championship season's ultimate game. This win solidified their second-place finish in the standings and granted them direct advancement to the Premier League. This marks Ipswich's return to the top division for the first time in over two decades, having last played at this level in the 2001/2002 season.

Ed Sheeran stands out as the club's most illustrious fan. The famed singer has entwined his fate with Ipswich to the extent of becoming its sponsor and an honorary member in 2021. Over the past few seasons, he's bought advertising space on the team's jerseys to promote his music and tours. Sheeran, tied up at the Met Gala, missed last weekend's celebration. Nonetheless, he more than compensated for his absence a few days later.

On Wednesday (May 8), Sheeran joined the Ipswich players in their celebration. The 33-year-old artist shared several short videos on his profile on the X service, strumming the guitar and singing one of his chart-toppers while being heartily backed by the players of his favorite club. The videos clearly show Sheeran's joy in being amongst the players, sharing embraces now and then.

The videos of Sheeran celebrating have swept through social media. They have been viewed by hundreds of thousands of his fans, with many commenters voicing their happiness at seeing the star so profoundly connected with his beloved club.

Leicester City, alongside Ipswich Town, has also booked their spot in the Premier League through direct promotion. The final team to join them will be determined through a playoff among those who finished third to sixth in the league: Leeds United, Southampton, West Brom, and Norwich City.
