Hugh Jackman steps into new role with Sutton Foster
Hugh Jackman has separated from his longtime wife, Deborra-Lee Furness. They were together for 27 years, but now the actor is seen with a younger partner, Sutton Foster. The actor's children have already met her. What was their reaction?
Hugh Jackman, an actor who needs no introduction, decided to divorce his wife, Deborra-Lee Furness. Their marriage, which lasted almost thirty years, was, for many, a symbol of the possibility of a lasting relationship in show business. However, Jackman has connected with actress Sutton Foster. The Daily Mail reports that the actor's children have mixed feelings about their father's new relationship.
A new partner in Hugh Jackman's life
Oscar and Ava, Jackman's children, now split their time between their parents and are getting accustomed to Sutton's presence. She has a seven-year-old daughter, Emily. A source from the Daily Mail emphasizes that Oscar and Ava find it challenging to accept the new situation, yet they also feel guilty if they get too close to Sutton.
Hugh Jackman spends the holidays in Australia with his children, while Sutton performs in Los Angeles. The actor hopes that time will help ease the tensions in the family, and recently, there's no shortage of those. In a statement, the couple emphasized that they parted ways amicably and with respect. "We have been blessed to share almost 3 decades together as husband and wife in a wonderful, loving marriage. Our journey now is shifting and we have decided to separate to pursue our individual growth. Our family has been and always will be our highest priority. We undertake this next chapter with gratitude, love, and kindness. We greatly appreciate your understanding in respecting our privacy as our family navigates this transition in all of our lives," they wrote in a joint statement in 2023.
However, Deborra-Lee Furness did not hide that her husband's departure is a light topic. On October 26 at 4 pm Eastern Time, Furness liked a video by gossip blogger Tasha Lustig on Instagram. The material suggested that Jackman plans to "delicately reveal" his new relationship with Foster. Furness's friend, Amanda de Cadenet, commented on this post, saying, "You are on point with this one ☝ . My beloved friend Deb is about to have her glow up any moment fyi!"
According to the "Daily Mail," the ex-wife of the "Wolverine" star feels deceived for finding out about the relationship with Sutton at the last moment. Her dissatisfaction is compounded by the fact that Jackman's close friends, Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively, did not inform her about the new relationship of her former partner.
Hugh Jackman and Sutton Foster are trying to keep their relationship out of the media spotlight. The couple met while working on the musical "The Music Man." Jackman played the role of Harold Hill, and Foster played Marian Paroo. The show premiered on Broadway in February 2022 and was performed at the Winter Garden Theatre in New York until January 2023.
"Us Weekly" magazine quotes a source close to Foster, stating: "Sutton and Hugh's relationship is the reason Hugh and Deb got divorced. A lot of people on Broadway knew, and we kept it quiet because both of them are so nice and great people. Everyone respected their privacy. But there was an affair and overlap."
