What are the reasons why the dishwasher does not wash dishes thoroughly, and why does an unpleasant smell come from inside it? There can be many causes. These may include technical issues, such as a damaged solenoid valve, a detergent dispenser malfunction, or a washing pump failure. More often, however, it's due to a lack of regular appliance cleaning, leading to food residue and deposits accumulating in hard-to-reach places. Here are some tips on how to address these problems.

How to take care of your dishwasher?

After washing is complete, it is a good idea to open the dishwasher door to allow the interior to air out and speed up the drying of the dishes. It's also worth regularly checking the condition of the drainage and supply hoses to ensure they are in good shape. It is recommended that the dishwasher filter be cleaned at least once a week, and sanitizing cleaning should be performed once a month.

To eliminate the unpleasant smell from the interior of the dishwasher, you can use a lemon. Simply cut it into thick slices, remove the seeds, place it on the dishwasher racks, and run a short cycle without loading any dishes. After just one cycle, you will notice a fresh scent, and the inside of the dishwasher will shine thanks to the lemon, which removes deposits. And what about the poorly washed dishes?

Vinegar can solve the problem of grease and food residue accumulating inside the dishwasher. Before resorting to expensive chemical agents, try this simple and effective method. Vinegar will clean the dishwasher and help remove limescale that can eventually cover the spray arms. Don't worry about the vinegar smell, as it dissipates quickly.

How to use vinegar to clean the dishwasher? First, remove all dishes and cutlery baskets from the appliance. Then place a cup of vinegar on the bottom of the dishwasher. Set the program to 71°C, and that's it. Remember not to add any detergents.
