Seeing small, red bugs running around on the balcony can give anyone the creeps. However, these are nothing more than clover mites, intensely red and only 4 millimetres long. They usually appear in warm, sunny places, so they are often seen on window sills or balconies.
Although the appearance of red bugs is not pleasant, they do not threaten humans or pets. Unfortunately, they reproduce quickly and may start entering homes. Additionally, they stain surfaces, leaving hard-to-clean red marks on tiles when accidentally stepped on.
How to get rid of red bugs from the balcony? Make a homemade spray
You can use chemical agents available in stores and markets to remove unwanted tenants from the balcony and prevent them from multiplying. However, it is worth preparing a cheap and effective home remedy before spending money.
Simply mix vinegar and water in a ratio of two parts vinegar to one part water, pour the mixture into a spray bottle, and spray it on tiles, window sills, and other places where you have observed the bugs.
Enhanced effect
To enhance the vinegar mixture's repellent effect, you can add a few drops of dish soap. This will slightly change the smell and amplify the repellent effect of vinegar and water.
However, it is essential to repeat the procedure daily for a few days and observe if the bed bugs return. Regular spraying of specific areas will prevent them from avoiding your balcony altogether.
