German Navy on high alert amid sabotage investigations
The prosecutor's office in Rostock is conducting an investigation into suspected sabotage on a German warship. According to "Der Spiegel," damage was discovered during an inspection at Tamsen-Werft.
During the inspection at Tamsen-Werft, damage in the form of cut cables was discovered. Experts ruled out attempted theft, suggesting deliberate action such as sabotage.
Sabotage in the German Navy
This is not the first case of suspected sabotage in the German Navy. Recently, unknown perpetrators tried to damage the corvette "Emden" by throwing metal shavings into its engine. If the matter had not been discovered, this action could have taken the ship out of service for a long time, the weekly reports.
Navy Inspector Jan Christian Kaack confirmed that in recent months, several incidents may indicate attempts at sabotage during ship stays at shipyards. As a result, security measures have been increased.
Warship inspections are regularly conducted at Tamsen-Werft. Recently, repairs on the vessel "Homburg" were completed, which will soon be handed over to the navy. Due to recent events, Inspector Kaack emphasized the need for "increased vigilance."
Additionally, Inspector Kaack revealed that there have been attempts to contact navy members outside their bases. Unknown perpetrators tried to recruit soldiers as informants, indicating organized efforts to weaken Germany's defence.
