Failed assassination doesn't deter Trump from GOP convention
A failed assassination attempt did not stop Donald Trump from attending the National Republican Convention. The former president has already arrived in Milwaukee. Meanwhile, the Secret Service announced that it did not intend to change the security plan before the Republican Congress.

Donald Trump arrived in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on Sunday for the Republican Party convention, which will officially choose him as their candidate in the presidential election. The convention will start on Monday and last until Thursday.
Trump's campaign previously confirmed that the National Republican Convention in Milwaukee will take place as planned.
"It is more important than ever that we are united and show our true character as Americans, remaining strong and determined," Trump wrote on his social media platform Truth Social shortly after the assassination attempt on Saturday.
Protection plans remain unchanged
The Secret Service informed on Sunday that it does not foresee tightening security plans during the National Republican Convention.
"The plans we have will continue, and we are confident in them," said Audrey Gibson-Cicchino, the Secret Service coordinator for the convention, at a press conference in Milwaukee. She added that they had been prepared over the course of 18 months.
"There are currently no articulated threats against the convention itself or anyone attending it," assured Michael Hensle, the special agent in charge of the FBI field office in Milwaukee.
