eVTOL revolution: Archer and Atlantic Aviation soar ahead
Imagine the possibility of flying taxis that take off and land vertically. Such a mode of transport could be an ideal solution for crowded streets, providing quick commutes. Interestingly, this scenario might not be far from reality.
When we think about the future of transport, images of flying taxis come to mind. However, this is nothing new for Archer. They are already working on implementing advanced technologies that will allow for efficient charging of their eVTOLs. This involves developing charging infrastructure for these vehicles at airports. Archer has signed an agreement with Atlantic Aviation, which will result in constructing many charging stations at airports managed by Atlantic Aviation in the USA and worldwide.
Atlantic Aviation airports to gain eVTOL chargers
Initially, the infrastructure for Archer eVTOL air taxis will be developed at selected Atlantic Aviation airports. Electric car chargers will also be available, aligning with broader plans to develop electromobility.
Flying taxis with vertical take-off and landing capabilities are planned for initial implementation in several American metropolises, such as New York City, Miami, San Francisco, and Los Angeles. These locations will feature chargers for electric vehicles, both for ground and air use.
First flights as soon as 2025?
Could flying taxis be introduced as early as next year? Archer is not the only company aiming to capture the eVTOL market. Other companies, like Volocopter and Joby (financially backed by Toyota), have also invested significant amounts into developing this venture. These companies expect to obtain the necessary certifications to provide services starting in 2025. By then, Archer Midnight flying taxis will be operating from Atlantic Aviation airports, as mentioned earlier.
