There are only two weeks left until the presidential election in the USA. The campaign is in its final stretch, and polls indicate a tight race in Michigan, where the difference between the candidates—with a slight edge for Donald Trump—is minimal.
Eminem's unexpected endorsement
It's no surprise that on Tuesday evening in Detroit, Michigan, a support rally was held for Kamala Harris. To everyone's astonishment, Eminem, who hails from there, took the stage to "encourage everyone to vote."
In a brief statement, the rapper expressed that people should not fear retribution for expressing their views. He pointed to Vice President Harris, who, in his opinion, will stand up for freedom of speech.
After endorsing Harris, Eminem introduced former U.S. President Barack Obama, who came on stage to the beat of his song "Lose Yourself."
Media across the ocean view Eminem's appearance as a significant element of the election campaign. The globally known rapper has criticized Trump for years, as exemplified by his song "Campaign Speech." Nevertheless, he refrains from endorsing politicians. Previously, just a few days before the elections, he allowed his track "Lose Yourself" to be used in a Joe Biden campaign ad, which he subsequently shared on social media.
Democrats hope that this star-studded event, which also included former American football player Calvin Johnson, will boost voter enthusiasm—comments the Associated Press.
