Egypt offers summer visa-free travel for luxury arrivals
Good news for tourists planning a trip to Egypt: The Minister of Tourism and Antiquities has announced that the country will introduce free travel visas. However, essential conditions must be met.
Currently, anyone planning to visit Egypt must purchase a visa—either at the airport upon arrival or electronically before departure. A 30-day tourist visa costs $25 per person. However, tourists on the Sinai Peninsula are exempt from this fee.
Two privileged airports
According to the announcement by Sherif Fathy during the International Tourism Fair Fitur in Madrid, foreign visitors flying directly to Egypt will soon be exempt from the visa fee. The condition is that their planes must land at international airports in Luxor or Aswan.
As stated by Mohamed Othman, head of the Cultural Tourism Marketing Committee in Luxor, all tourists will be exempt from the visa fee, regardless of whether they fly to Luxor or Aswan on scheduled flights or charter airplanes.
According to the Minister of Tourism and Antiquities of Egypt, the visa exemption will be effective from May 1 to October 31 this year.
Sherif Fathy said this decision aims to encourage tourists to visit Luxor and Aswan in the summer, when the number of visitors to this region of our country decreases due to high temperatures. It is part of the government's plan to stimulate cultural and archaeological tourism in Upper Egypt.
