Have you ever needed to clean your windows but had no window cleaner at home? No problem! Discover a simple recipe for a homemade window cleaner that is both affordable and effective.

You can find many different window cleaning products in stores with strong cleaning agents. Just spray the window, wipe it with a cloth, and enjoy your clean, shiny windows after a few minutes.

But what do you do if you run out of cleaner? In such a situation, it's worth it to turn to products you might already have in your kitchen cupboard. They can yield similar results to store-bought cleaners and are much cheaper.

Homemade window cleaner

If you run out of window cleaner at home and need to clean your windows, there’s no need to worry. You likely already have everything you need at home. It turns out that black tea works excellently for cleaning windows, leaving no streaks, smudges, or dust and dirt residue. Moreover, it can clean all glass surfaces, including oven doors and mirrors.

How do you clean windows with tea? Brew a few teabags of black tea and let it cool. Soak a paper towel in the prepared brew and then thoroughly clean the windows. During cleaning, streaks will appear but will disappear once dry. Polishing will not be necessary.

An alternative option is vinegar

Our grandmothers often cleaned windows with a water and vinegar solution. Vinegar not only cleans thoroughly but also gives windows a shine. To use it for window cleaning, just mix ½ cup (4 oz) of vinegar with 2 cups (16 oz) of warm water. Then, soak a paper towel or a microfiber cloth in this solution and wipe the windows thoroughly. This will make the windows shine without streaks. Unfortunately, the smell of vinegar will linger in the house for about an hour after cleaning the windows.

Many people also use diluted dish soap instead of dedicated window cleaner. To make this solution, add a tablespoon of dish soap to 2 cups (16 oz) of warm water. Then, soak a soft microfiber cloth in the solution and wipe the windows. The result will be clean and shiny windows.
