While Chinese and Japanese cuisines are familiar, Korean dishes are somewhat mysterious. Bulgogi beef will convince you to try oriental dishes and invite Korean flavours into your kitchen for longer. The secret to bulgogi's taste is the special marinade, which gives the meat juiciness and a unique aroma.

What is bulgogi?

The name "bulgogi" comes from the Korean words "bul" (fire) and "gogi" (meat), which means "fire meat." Traditionally, bulgogi was grilled over a fire, often over charcoal, but preparation methods varied by region. This dish used to be the domain of the nobility and wealthy citizens, but fortunately, that's now just a memory, and everyone can enjoy the flavour of delicious beef.

Bulgogi is one of the most recognizable Korean dishes globally and is often the first dish that comes to mind when we think of this country's cuisine.
