Mushrooms in a crispy coating are hard to resist. Add cheddar's bold taste and aroma, and this appetizer becomes irresistible. You must try this recipe.

I prepare mushrooms in batter when my family searches for a quick snack. Even two full plates aren't enough because they disappear in the blink of an eye. Plus, I don't have to stress over shopping since the ingredients are simple and few.

Crispy mushrooms in cheese batter: The perfect snack

Preparing crispy mushrooms in batter doesn't take much time and is perfect for almost any occasion. It's a great option for a major craving or as a party snack. Mushrooms in a cheese batter go well with a light yogurt-garlic or herb sauce and pair nicely with vegetable spreads like pepper or beetroot.

The cheese in the batter enhances the overall taste, while the aroma of thyme beautifully complements the mushrooms. Mushrooms are naturally full of umami flavour and need little else to impress. In this rendition, they are flawless. To achieve a crispy exterior, fry them in deep oil. If you prefer avoiding fried dishes, bake them in the oven for about 10 minutes at a high temperature of 400-450°F (200-230°C).

  3. Next, add the flour. Combine the ingredients until a thick, lump-free batter forms.
  4. Wash and dry the mushrooms, then remove the woody stems.
  5. Dip the prepared mushrooms in the batter, then coat them in breadcrumbs.
  6. Fry the mushrooms in deep, well-heated oil until golden brown.
  7. Place the finished mushrooms on a plate lined with paper towels to absorb excess oil.
