Some actors support Russia, and others fight against it. In the first case, we are obviously talking about Steven Seagal, who has been involved in Russian propaganda for years, holding the title of "representative of American-Russian relations." Seagal is not bothered by the fact that Russian troops have been occupying Ukraine for years and are conducting purges there. However, there are well-known figures who stand on the other side of the barricade and strive to prosecute Russian propagandists - we are talking about George Clooney and his foundation.
Dmitry Medvedev on George Clooney
Recently, there has been information that the George and Amal Clooney Foundation wants to prosecute Russian propagandists operating in Europe who call for war in Ukraine and the murder of Ukrainian citizens. Andrii Yermak, the head of the Ukrainian president's office, reported the matter. He noted that "The McFaul-Yermak Sanctions Group has been working with our partners for a long time to ensure that Russian propagandists who are equally guilty of inciting hatred and promoting Russia's war against Ukraine are sanctioned."
He added that many propagandists from Russia still have assets in Europe. "Those propagandists are responsible for the genocide of Ukrainians. And they will be held to account," he said. The foundation, co-operated by George Clooney, has applied for arrest warrants for several people.
Anna Neistat, director of legal affairs at Clooney Foundation for Justice's Docket, also commented on the matter. She noted, "We are focused on bringing to justice the most obvious Russian propagandists, the most visible ones, but I will deliberately not name them because we ask prosecutors to issue gag orders."
Russia has not remained passive to the reports. On social media platform X, there was a post by Dmitry Medvedev, once the president of the Federation and now a Kremlin spokesman. In a mocking comment, he primarily emphasized George Clooney's role, as if the actor was chasing Russian activists.
"A certain mediocre actor called George Clooney has decided to use his Foundation to hunt down Russian journalists all over the world and persecute them." he writes. "The effort would be wasted, however: our professional journalists will find him first." Medvedev threatens. "They are very attentive and highly trained people. And they are going to have a chat from dusk till dawn" the Kremlin spokesman wrote, finally referencing the horror film in which Clooney starred in 1996.
In Robert Rodriguez's film, two criminals (George Clooney and Quentin Tarantino) escape to Mexico, where they end up at a roadside bar that turns out to be a vampire den.
Let us remind you that the Clooney Foundation for Justice was established in 2016 by the star and his wife, Amal. So far, they operate in 40 different countries worldwide, supporting actions such as those for refugees or war victims. As early as 2022, Amal Clooney stated in the media that the foundation would help prosecute Russian crimes in Ukraine.
