The climate crisis is ongoing. It's visible at every turn, practically every day. Increasingly warmer days, droughts in many places worldwide, massive floods, and terrifying fires are not surprising. They have become something people have to deal with. It shouldn't be like this. That's exactly what environmental activists are talking about. They want top politicians and influential people to understand that the climate crisis can be stopped. Unfortunately, many do not want to listen, often viewing them as overreacting alarmists.
Climate activists also emphasize how the wealthiest people in the world are responsible for the crisis related to temperature and the planet's condition. They regularly criticize Taylor Swift, Kim Kardashian, or Travis Scott. All because they use their private jets and organize flights lasting several minutes. This undoubtedly exacerbates the climate crisis. The same goes for Leo Messi, one of the most popular soccer players. He was called out on Tuesday, August 6 for his irresponsible behaviour.
Climate activists destroyed the facade of Leo Messi's villa
Well-known and respected people around the world could undoubtedly influence the climate policies of many countries. They can also persuade the people who follow them on social media to start living more ecologically. Unfortunately, a large portion of the well-known and beloved individuals do not use their potential to realistically help change the world. Among them is Leo Messi, one of the most popular soccer players who ever lived. He was criticized for this by Spanish activists.
On Tuesday, August 6 at 11:00 AM (ET) a certain photo and video appeared on the social media of the Futuro Vegetal group. It turned out that climate activists found Leo Messi's villa and then vandalized its facade. They doused it with black and red paint. All to remind everyone that the wealthiest are the most responsible for deepening the climate crisis. Their behaviour was not appreciated by the President of Argentina. He called it "insane and cowardly".
"The villa is an illegal construction that the soccer player purchased for an astounding sum of $12 million. During this time alone, in the Balearic Islands, between two to four people have died as a direct result of the heat waves. [...] While the far-right blames the crisis on migrants and demonstrates extreme violence against them, those of us fighting for a better world have no doubts that the problem is social inequality. Let's address the root causes," read a statement from Spanish activists on social media.
