Trump's campaign team was informed this week that he and Vance were among the group of people whose devices were attacked through an infiltration of the Verizon cellular network system, according to "NYT."
The newspaper noted that some of the attacked devices belong to people in the administration of U.S. President Joe Biden.
Chinese infiltration
Earlier this year, U.S. agencies identified a hacker group linked to China known as Salt Typhoon that was operating inside domestic cellular network systems.
However, the newspaper described how investigators only recently discovered that specific phone numbers were being targeted.
Reports of Chinese infiltration raise many concerns due to the presidential elections, which will be held on November 5th.
During this campaign, former President Trump's camp was already targeted by Iranian hackers, who attempted to gain access to the contents of Republicans' computers by sending fake emails.
