Pull-apart bread is a hit at every party, and in its cheesy version, it definitely surpasses the classic recipe. It's soft, delicate, and very buttery. It's perfect as a snack or for dinner. The secret to the perfect butter is roasted garlic. It becomes creamy and milder in flavour, making it an ideal match with butter and parsley. I can't think of a better party snack.
Pull-apart bread with butter and cheese
As soon as the first bite of the bread reaches the guests' mouths, you hear only sighs of delight. It’s the best proof that you don’t need a lot of ingredients or complicated recipes to impress guests.
Thanks to the cheese that melts during baking, every bite is extremely juicy and aromatic, and the golden, crispy crust provides an excellent contrast to the soft interior. This simple snack never gets old.
Ingredients:
Dough:
- 400 g all-purpose flour,
- 180 mL warm milk,
- 15 g fresh yeast,
- 20 g sugar,
- 1 egg,
- 1 teaspoon salt,
- 30 g soft butter.
Rest of the ingredients:
- 2 heads of garlic,
- 2 tablespoons olive oil,
- 200 g soft butter,
- 1 bunch of parsley,
- 1 teaspoon salt,
- 200 g shredded mozzarella.
Instructions:
Step 1. Sift the all-purpose flour into a bowl. Make an indentation in it and add crumbled yeast, sugar, and warm milk. Combine the ingredients and let sit for 20 minutes.
Step 2. After this time, transfer the dough to a bowl, add salt and egg, and begin to knead the dough, adding the soft butter in the meantime. When it's smooth, cover it with a cloth and let it rise for 1 hour.
Step 3. Place two heads of garlic on aluminum foil, drizzle them with olive oil, and wrap them. Put them in an oven preheated to 200 degrees Celsius for 40 minutes. During baking, the garlic cloves soften, become creamier, and acquire a sweet, caramelized aroma.
Step 4. Prepare the parsley. The leaves can be most easily separated from the thick stem by pulling them through a strainer.
Step 5. Chop the parsley and mix it with the baked garlic squeezed out of the skin and the soft butter.
Step 6. Sprinkle the countertop with flour and transfer the risen dough. Roll it out into a large rectangle and spread it with the prepared garlic and parsley butter. Sprinkle the entire surface with grated cheese. Cut into rectangles. It’s easiest to do this with a pizza cutter.
Step 7. Take several pieces, stack them on top of each other, and place them vertically into a loaf pan measuring approximately 10 cm x 30 cm. Repeat the process until the dough is finished. Place in an oven preheated to 170 degrees Celsius for 40 minutes.
Step 8. After this time, the bread is ready to be pulled apart, shared, and enjoyed. Bon appétit!
