Margaret Stewart, a spokesperson for the Los Angeles Fire Department, emphasized the urgency of the situation, noting that the fire is spreading rapidly across the dense hills and urging residents to follow evacuation orders. Tom Hanks’ son on the fire
Chet Hanks, son of Tom Hanks, appealed to his Instagram followers for prayers for Pacific Palisades, which is being destroyed by the fire. "The neighbourhood I grew up in is burning to the ground," Chet wrote. His parents own a property there, but it is not known if it has been affected by the fire.
The fire in Pacific Palisades forced approximately 30,000 residents to evacuate. Firefighters are battling the blaze, but there is a lack of water and supplies. The evacuation also covered Malibu and Calabasas. Authorities warn that the worst is yet to come, and the fire is spreading rapidly.
