Recordings from city surveillance cameras in Belgorod showed the panic of civilians who frantically sought shelter after anti-missile systems were activated around the city. Meanwhile, Ukrainians comment: "First, there was a rush to the polls to vote for Putin, and then abandoning cars in the middle of the road and fleeing in search of shelter."

According to the Ukrainian portal Censor.NET, residents of the Russian city of Belgorod panicked and tried to seek shelter on the streets after hearing the sounds of anti-aircraft missile explosions, hiding in makeshift shelters.

The recording of civilians running in panic appeared online on September 7. It shows drivers abandoning their cars in the middle of the road and running to hide in makeshift shelters set up at various points in the city.

The behaviour of Russians trying to hide from the attack is harshly commented on by Ukrainians online:

Belgorod People's Republic. Evolution the Russian way: First, rushing to the polls to vote for Putin and then abandoning cars in the middle of the road and fleeing in search of shelter to avoid death from their own anti-aircraft defence – notes the author of the posted video.

Let's remember that Ukrainian attacks on Belgorod Oblast and the region's capital have been ongoing since the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. In 2023, the frequency of attacks increased to approximately 350 per month.

A massive Ukrainian attack on Belgorod took place at the end of August this year. Thirty-seven civilians were injured, including six children. Five people died as a result of the attack.
