Autumn smoothie: Good for immunity and the gut

The autumn warming smoothie is a blend of ingredients that care for our gut health and strengthen the body. The composition includes kefir, which positively affects the functioning of the digestive tract, supports regular bowel movements, reduces bloating, and aids intestinal motility. Regular consumption of kefir helps balance the gut's bacterial flora, improving both digestive functions and overall body immunity.

An essential ingredient of the autumn smoothie is pumpkin—a vegetable that is hard to imagine autumn menus without. Pumpkin, due to its dietary fibre, prevents constipation and lowers total cholesterol levels in the blood. Additionally, it has antibacterial and antifungal properties. Meanwhile, flaxseed reduces existing inflammation in the body and regulates intestinal peristalsis. Remember, however, that ground flaxseed is best for absorption. Do not buy pre-ground flaxseed; grind the seeds right before consumption.

Autumn smoothie with pumpkin and kefir: Recipe

Ingredients (for 1 serving):

  • 200 mL of kefir,
  • half a cup of pumpkin purée,
  • 1 banana,
  • 2 tablespoons of oats, 
  • 1 tablespoon of flaxseed (ground),
  • a pinch of cinnamon,
  • optional amount of water.

Preparation: Blend the ingredients into a smooth mass; if it is too thick, add a little water.
