Argentina to face Colombia in Copa America final with extended break

During the night from Sunday to Monday (July 14/15), the Copa America 2024 final will take place, where the Argentine team will face Colombia. Quite unusually, the break in the match will last longer than usual due to... a Shakira concert.

At the same time, we are watching significant competitions on two different continents. In Europe, Euro 2024 is scheduled from July 1-14, while across the ocean, the Copa America started on June 21. The final will take place during the night from Sunday to Monday (July 14/15).

We already know the complete list of Copa America finalists. After Argentina defeated Canada 2-0 and qualified, Colombia joined them. This team beat Uruguay 1-0 and will have a chance to defeat the defending champions.

We know the decisive match will last longer than any other game. The reason? During the match break, a Shakira concert is planned. This means the players will have a chance for a longer rest between the first and second halves of the competition. This intermission will increase from 15 to 25 minutes.

Although the Colombian team coach has no issue with the planned singer's concert, he is not happy with the rule change. He emphasized this during the pre-match press conference.

- The rules are changing for both teams, so I can't say it favours anyone. However, I would prefer it to be as usual. When we went back on the field after 16 minutes in one of the previous matches, we were penalized. Now we will be waiting 25 minutes, and players might have trouble warming up. However, this affects both teams - said Nestor Lorenzo.
