Zucchini can be called a vegetable chameleon because it's so versatile that it works on many levels in the kitchen. Some add it to pasta, sauces, and stews, while others bake cakes with it, put it in oatmeal, or even spice up cinnamon bun filling. We eat it constantly in season, and out of the main season, it still tempts in stores. Given its nutritional value, it's definitely worth inviting it more often into your kitchen.

Why is it worth eating zucchini?

It's an ally for everyone concerned about their health. It's low in calories and fibre, supporting and regulating bowel function. This is very important, as scientists have long said that our immunity is in our intestines. Zucchini is an excellent source of vitamins A, K, C, and B-group vitamins, including folic acid. It also contains potassium, magnesium, and iron, which are essential for proper body function.

Zucchini also contains naturally occurring lutein. It protects the eyes from the harmful effects of UV radiation and reduces the risk of eye diseases like macular degeneration. Vitamin K, abundant in zucchini, strengthens blood vessels and improves blood clotting, which benefits the cardiovascular system.

Eat zucchini for health

B-group vitamins in zucchini play a key role in the proper functioning of the nervous system, improving concentration, and reducing stress. 100 grams of fresh zucchini provide only 17 calories, making it a great component of a weight-loss diet. Zucchini is a real ally in the fight against lifestyle diseases. The antioxidants it contains, such as carotenoids, vitamin C, and vitamin A, neutralize harmful free radicals that damage cells and contribute to developing cancers, heart diseases, and accelerated aging. Regular consumption of zucchini can significantly reduce the risk of these severe conditions.

Zucchini is an incredibly versatile vegetable that can be prepared in many ways. It tastes great raw in salads as well as cooked, baked, or grilled. It can be added to soups, casseroles, and even cakes. Zucchini flowers are also edible and make an excellent addition to main dishes. It's definitely worth inviting it into the kitchen for longer than just the summer.
