At the BRICS summit in Kazan, Russia, some foreign leaders chose to use the Russian Aurus car, the same in which Putin is chauffeured. However, according to "The Moscow Times," Chinese President Xi Jinping decided against the Russian automotive offer.
Instead, Xi Jinping opted to travel in a Hongqi limousine.
Hongqi is a Chinese brand of luxury cars. The name Hongqi means "red flag" and is associated with communist movements. Established in 1959, Hongqi is the oldest passenger car brand in China.
BRICS summit in Kazan: Putin on "world order"
The BRICS summit will last three days. Representatives from over 30 countries are participating. Russian President Vladimir Putin stated in Kazan that Moscow and Beijing will work together to establish a "fair world order."
The BRICS countries group includes, in addition to Russia and China, Brazil, India, South Africa, Iran, Egypt, Ethiopia, and the United Arab Emirates.
Commentators suggest that Putin will aim to demonstrate in Kazan that, contrary to Western assertions, Russia is not isolated on the international stage.
