These days, there's a lot of information on social media about both mental and physical health. One person offering advice on proper health maintenance is Dr. Emma Qureshey, a gynecologist from Houston. She runs a TikTok account where she shares numerous practical tips.
"The first thing I would never do," she wrote in a post discussing urinating in the shower.
Never do this in the shower
Why could this be harmful to our intimate health? As Dr. Qureshey explained, urinating in the shower can weaken the pelvic floor, especially if done while standing. It can also create a situation where the sound of running water triggers an urgent need to urinate.
The standing position does not encourage pelvic relaxation, so the bladder may not fully empty. Over time, this can lead to more frequent urination and a loss of control over the process.
The doctor on treating vaginal infections
Dr. Emma Qureshey also highlighted that many women mistakenly try to self-treat vaginal infections. She specifically advised against home remedies like garlic or yogurt, indicating they are ineffective and can worsen the condition. For infections, you should consult a doctor.
