Mercenaries from the Wagner Group have announced their readiness to travel to the Kursk region, where a Ukrainian forces operation has been ongoing for several days. "Our forces are ready to come to the aid of the motherland," it was written.

On August 6th, the Armed Forces of Ukraine entered the Kursk region, where they captured several villages. The military also claims to control the city of Sudzha, though the Russians deny this. Moscow has implemented a counterterrorism operation regime in several regions bordering Ukraine.

The Institute for the Study of War, in its report, argues that the Russian command does not want to send units from the front to the Kursk region to avoid weakening the offensive in Ukraine. However, there are rumours that it may use, among others, mercenaries from the Wagner Group.

Wagner group issued a statement

A Telegram channel associated with the group, "Wagner's Unloading," conveyed a message from the "council of commanders" of the mercenary formation.

"From the first day, from the first combat mission, we had only one goal: to defend the interests of the homeland, to aid in Russia's prosperity, and to protect the Russian people. And we are ready to fight to the last drop of blood," it was conveyed.

"We declare the following: our forces are ready to come to the aid of the homeland and, at the first call, prepare for combat formations. It has always been this way" - it was emphasized.

One of the bloggers associated with the Wagner Group published a recording that allegedly shows that mercenaries are heading to the Kursk region.

The RTVI channel reportedly confirmed with one of the fighters that mercenaries who had previously been stationed in Mali are being directed to the region bordering Ukraine.
