The Pentagon reports that the United States is monitoring the possibility of North Korean troops being deployed to Russia. In this scenario, the North Korean army would participate in the war in Ukraine.

- If I were North Korean military personnel management, I would be questioning my choice of sending my forces to be cannon fodder in an illegal war against Ukraine - said the spokesperson of the U.S. Department of Defense, General Patrick Ryder.

According to the military official, rumours of the possible involvement of North Korean troops on the front are "certainly something to keep an eye on". - And we've seen the kinds of casualties that Russian forces - he stated.

The United States and South Korea accused the authorities in Pyongyang of supplying weapons to Russia to be used in the war in Ukraine. Russia and North Korea have denied these allegations. Last year, these countries announced the deepening of military cooperation during Kim's visit to Vladivostok, where he met with Putin in September.

In June this year, Vladimir Putin visited North Korea for the first time in 24 years. The Russian leader met with Kim Jong Un in Pyongyang and signed a treaty on a comprehensive strategic partnership.

- The signed agreement includes mutual assistance in the event of aggression against one of the parties to this agreement, - said Putin after talks with the North Korean leader.

The Russian president also announced that Russia does not rule out developing military-technical cooperation with North Korea under this agreement. Russian media reported that security and international affairs issues took up a large part of the meeting with Kim Jong Un.
