Ukrainian drones spark massive blaze in Leningrad Oblast
An industrial zone is ablaze in Gatchina, located in Leningrad Oblast. The industrial plants were targeted by Ukrainian drones early in the morning. The site is situated over 1,000 kilometres from the front line.
Videos shared on Telegram show a massive fire raging in the industrial zone in Gatchina, Leningrad Oblast. The zone includes, among other sites, the 218th Aircraft Repair Plant. Ukrainian media report that the affected plants produce acetone.
The videos and photos depict billowing smoke and raging flames. Russian authorities have not released any information about the cause of the fire yet. However, local media report that explosions can be heard in the vicinity, noting that "emergency services are active on site," and the fire "can be seen from many kilometres away." The Russian Ministry of Defence stated only that approximately 40 Ukrainian drones were shot down that night.
There are currently no reports of potential casualties.
Ukrainian drones in the Rostov region
This was not the only target attacked by Ukrainian drones last night. Fires and explosions were also reported in the Rostov region, where military facilities are located.
Local Russian media mention reports from residents hearing at least ten explosions, after which the on-site plants caught fire.
