The massive fires that affected Pacific Palisades, a neighbourhood in Los Angeles, and surrounding areas caused immense damage, destroying many homes, including properties of famous personalities. The house of Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson miraculously avoided destruction, but the couple feels "survivor's guilt" and is uncertain if they want to stay in the area.

"Tom Hanks is dealing with a form of Survivor's guilt as his home is currently unscathed," an insider told the "Daily Mail." "He knows that he still isn't out of the woods, and he feels terrible about all his neighbors and friends who have lost everything while his place is still standing."

Their property, approximately 420 square metres in size, purchased in 2010, was sufficiently distant from the house of the nearest neighbour, which was completely destroyed by the fire. Nonetheless, Hanks and Wilson don’t know if they'll return to their home permanently. "They don’t know how they will wrap their heads around this," the insider continued. "It would be very weird to stay once all the dust settles in a place surrounded by nobody, but those decisions will be made in the weeks and months to come."

Dramatic situation in Los Angeles

Fires in California forced more than 180,000 residents of Los Angeles to evacuate. Over 10,000 buildings were destroyed, and about 400,000 customers across the state remain without power.

Among the known individuals who lost their homes are Anthony Hopkins, Heidi Montag, Adam Brody, John Goodman, Billy Crystal, Anna Faris, and others, who certainly do not face homelessness. The most affected are the less privileged residents of the metropolis and animals.

The first donations from stars are already starting to flow into relief foundations. Jamie Lee Curtis announced that her family donated a million dollars.
