"The armed forces of Ukraine attacked a fuel depot in the Belgorod region using an unmanned aerial vehicle. The tanks caught fire as a result of the explosion. Firefighting units are battling the blaze," announced Vyacheslav Gladkov, the governor of the Belgorod region in Russia, on Sunday.
He added that information on the attack's consequences is being clarified. "All operational services are working on the site," he added.
Local residents posted photos on social media showing burning tankers. The attack reportedly occurred in the village of Yutanovka, near Volokonovka.
The Belgorod region is attacked by Ukraine almost daily, according to information provided by the regional governor. Only on Sunday did a Russian government representative report several strikes.
"Three more settlements in our region were attacked by the armed forces of Ukraine using drones. There were no casualties," Gladkov reported Sunday evening. The villages of Berezovka, Ryabiki, and Novaya Tavolzhanka were reported to have been attacked.
