The Moscow Times reports that ongoing Ukrainian military operations in the Kursk region are causing major logistical issues for Russia. One of them is the collapse of rail traffic.

"Russian Railways have faced a transport collapse in regions bordering Ukraine and Belarus following the Ukrainian Armed Forces' invasion of the Kursk region, which resulted in Moscow losing control over hundreds of square kilometers of territory," reports The Moscow Times.

"The capture of the city of Sudzha was a significant blow to the Russian railways and the Russian armed forces," reports the portal In Factum.

On Monday, August 12, Russian Railways sent a telegram to Belarusian Railways about the inability to accept trains at the Orel-Kursk stations of the Moscow Railway division. The next day, August 13, similar restrictions were introduced for trains going from Belarus to the Smolensk region.

The reason for the decision by Russian Railways was the overcrowding of stations with abandoned trains and the lack of locomotives and conductors. "According to sources, the collapse of traffic was the result of large-scale troop transfers to the Kursk region, including from distant regions, for which almost all available locomotives of the Moscow railway were used," reports The Moscow Times.

The portal In Factum showed on a map the railway lines which, according to Belarusian media, are no longer servicing rail traffic.
