Ukraine endures relentless missile and drone barrage
More than 20 missiles, 400 drones, and 800 aerial bombs were reportedly used by Russia in attacks on Ukraine within just a week. Volodymyr Zelenskyy conveyed information about the attack on Sunday. At the same time, he once again emphasized that effectively fighting Russia is impossible without Western support.
During the week, Russia utilized about 20 different types of missiles, more than 800 guided aerial bombs, and nearly 400 unmanned aerial vehicles for attacks on Ukraine, as reported by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Sunday.
Zelenskyy spoke about the "daily terror from the air," which can be effectively countered through international cooperation. He also praised the successes of Ukrainian air defence forces, which repelled some of these attacks.
Last night, Ukrainian air defence forces destroyed more than 50 Shaheds in the Mykolaiv, Odesa, Kyiv, Cherkasy, Kirovohrad, Dnipro, Sumy, Chernihiv, Poltava, Vinnytsia, Khmelnytskyi, Zaporizhzhia, Zhytomyr, and Kharkiv regions, detailed the president on Telegram.
Zelenskyy appeals to Western countries for help
The President of Ukraine also appealed to Western countries, emphasizing the need for weapons supplies and international support. Ukrainian authorities have been asking for this for several days as they are in an increasingly difficult situation. The weapons from the latest supplies are beginning to run out.
Ukraine is now facing a crucial event regarding further weapons supplies, namely the meeting of the Ramstein Group. This is an international alliance formed in response to Russia's invasion of Ukraine. "Next week, we will continue to work on this with our partners in Ramstein," announced Zelenskyy.
As reported by the Polish Press Agency, the next meeting of the Ramstein Group will take place on October 12 at the American military base in Germany. Talks at the highest level will involve leaders of many countries, including the President of the United States, Joe Biden, who planned a visit to Germany from October 10-13.
The Ramstein Group includes more than 50 countries and organizations that coordinate military aid for Ukraine, providing weapons, training Ukrainian soldiers, and supporting the repair of military equipment. Regular meetings within this format are held monthly to strengthen military cooperation in light of ongoing Russian aggression.
