Trump taps allies for key diplomatic and security roles

In the past, Puzder was the head of CKE Restaurants, which operates the regional fast-food restaurant chains Hardee's and Carl's Jr.

Trump makes further decisions

"During his 17 year tenure as CEO, Andy led the company out of serious financial difficulty, allowing it to survive, become financially secure, and grow. Andy will do an excellent job representing our Nation’s interests in this important region," Donald Trump wrote on his social media platform, Truth Social.

In 2017, Puzder was nominated by Trump as a candidate for the head of the Department of Labor, but he was forced to withdraw his candidacy due to allegations against the businessman of employing illegal immigrants, mistreating employees, and domestic violence. If approved this time, Puzder will replace Mark Gitenstein, a lawyer nominated by President Biden, in Brussels.

On Wednesday, Trump also announced Sean Curran's nomination as the Secret Service's head. Curran was responsible for the Secret Service team protecting Trump for four years and was with him during an assassination attempt in Butler, Pennsylvania.

The new U.S. President also chose conservative columnist and activist Brent Bozell as the head of the Global Media Agency, overseeing U.S. public media, including Radio Free Europe and Voice of America. Bozell is a former critic of Trump who focused on criticizing liberal media. His son was among more than a thousand people pardoned by Trump, having previously been convicted of participating in the storming of the Capitol on January 6, 2021.
