The New York Times reports that the Russia-born Epshteyn has already presented his proposal to Trump.
Epshteyn, who lacks experience in foreign policy, purportedly claimed that he has relatives in both Russia and Ukraine. The NYT reports that the lawyer’s idea surprised many people in Trump’s circle, including Elon Musk. The President-elect, however, reportedly listened with interest.
The New York Times highlights that Epshteyn is currently under investigation in Arizona regarding his actions related to attempts to overturn the 2020 election. Despite this, Trump has not dismissed his proposal.
