Trump claims secret talks with Putin to end Ukraine conflict, Peskov comments
Donald Trump claims he is negotiating with Vladimir Putin to establish terms for ending the war in Ukraine. The Kremlin spokesperson has not confirmed such talks are occurring. "I personally can not know something, not be aware of something," said Dmitry Peskov.
U.S. President Donald Trump, in a conversation with the "New York Post," stated that he is speaking with Russian President Vladimir Putin to bring an end to the conflict in Ukraine. He declined to specify how many times such negotiations have taken place.
Trump added that he "always had a good relationship with Putin" and believes that Putin "does care" about the number of people being killed on the battlefield. "He wants to see people stop dying," said the U.S. President.
Kremlin spokesperson: I might not know something
Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov neither confirmed nor denied the reports about conversations between Putin and Trump. However, he acknowledged that talks are being conducted through "different communications," so he doesn’t need to know about everything.
"As the US administration develops its work in Washington, many different communications arise, and they take place through various channels. Of course, amid all these communications, I might not be aware of something personally. Therefore, in this case, I cannot confirm or deny it," said Peskov.
