On Saturday, a devastating road accident occurred in southern Mexico, claiming the lives of 41 people, according to the authorities in Tabasco. A bus carrying 48 passengers collided with a truck.
In the aftermath of this collision, 38 passengers, two bus drivers, and the truck driver lost their lives.
Causes of the accident
According to Reuters, the bus caught fire after the collision with the truck. The Acosta Tour company, which owns the bus, issued a statement providing details of the incident.
"The accident occurred when the truck entered the lane where our coach was traveling from Villa del Sol to Tecolutilla. At the time of the accident, our coach was in optimal condition and was moving at a moderate speed," the statement reads.
This tragedy is one of the most severe in the region in recent years. Authorities are conducting an investigation to ascertain the exact causes of the incident.
