Tragic bus accident claims lives of Zambian soccer players

Seven players from the third-league team Chavuma Town Council FC in Zambia were killed in a bus accident that occurred on Saturday. The team was travelling for a league match in the northwestern part of the country. Twelve people were injured, including five who were transported to the hospital.

The tragedy took place on Saturday when the bus driver, transporting nineteen members of the Chavuma Town Council FC team, lost control of the vehicle, leading to a rollover.

The players were on their way to a third-league match.

Seven people died in the accident, and twelve were injured. Five were taken to the hospital, while the rest received assistance at the scene. The condition of several individuals is critical.

The world of soccer and the Zambian community in mourning

The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) expressed deep sorrow following this tragic event.

"We are in contact with football, civil, and law enforcement authorities in the province to learn all the accident details," said FAZ President Andrew Kamanga.

The soccer community in Zambia declared a period of mourning "for the loss of young talents." Sports and local authorities are also supporting the victims' families. Club representatives met with those who lost loved ones.

Condolences were also expressed by the President of the Confederation of African Football, Patrice Motsepe.
