The Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs stated in a written statement that a generator was placed in a closed room near the bedroom. The employees likely started it on Friday, December 13th, following a power outage in the facility.
The Ministry reported that "at first glance," there were "no signs of violence" on the bodies.
The ministry reported that investigative measures are underway. Experts and criminologists are examining the scene, interviewing those connected to the case, and arranging the necessary examinations.
The cause of death for the 12 people is to be clarified by an ordered autopsy. The proceedings are being conducted for involuntary manslaughter, which, according to the Georgian Penal Code, carries a penalty of 3 to 5 years of imprisonment in the case of the death of more than two people.
