As Trump mentioned during his speech at the White House, the company leaders decided to establish a joint venture. The venture will invest at least $100 billion, and potentially up to $500 billion over four years, to build data centres in America and create 100,000 jobs.

This monumental undertaking is a profound statement of confidence in America's potential under its new president, said Trump.

The head of OpenAI, Sam Altman, commented that the aim of the project is to create AGI (artificial general intelligence) superintelligence and that it will be "the most important project of this era".

The president of Softbank, Masayoshi Son, stated that it is a sign of the "golden age of America" heralded by Trump. Larry Ellison, the Oracle president and Trump supporter, announced that the project will contribute to, among other things, curing cancer and other diseases and quickly developing vaccines.

As reported by the "Wall Street Journal", Stargate includes a range of previously announced projects, and the first 10 data centres will be built in Texas and are already under construction.

Tech-oligarchy around Trump

The founders, owners, and heads of the largest technology companies appeared on Monday for the inauguration of U.S. President Donald Trump. "Inauguration of the Tech-Oligarchy" - that's how the "New Yorker" described Monday's ceremony, attended by billionaires and tech company owners. American media and experts describe this as a "paying homage" or even "submission".

Attendees at the ceremony included Elon Musk, founder of Tesla and SpaceX, Mark Zuckerberg, founder and CEO of Meta, Tim Cook, CEO of Apple, Google CEO Sundar Pichai, and Alphabet's owner Sergey Brin. Jeff Bezos, founder and owner of Amazon, attended with his partner Lauren Sanchez, along with Rupert Murdoch, owner of The News Corp. Others included Mukesh Ambani of Reliance Industries, Sam Altman, co-founder and CEO of OpenAI, Shou Zi Chew, CEO of TikTok, Dara Khosrowshahi, CEO of Uber, and Bernard Arnault, founder of LVMH.
