An unusual event occurred in North Carolina, USA. The owner of a home heard a loud noise and saw an unidentified object lying on the roof of his property. At first, he thought it was a bird, but it later turned out to be debris from a SpaceX spacecraft.

Mike Wooten from Franklin, North Carolina, was visibly surprised when a large, unidentified object struck his house. Initially, he was convinced that a dead bird, which had fallen after hitting a window, was lying on his roof.

As ABC News described, the object that struck his house was from space. The object, about 38 centimetres long, 10 centimetres wide, and weighing 1 kilogram, was said to resemble a car part.

It turns out this was not the first such discovery in recent days. A few days before the incident in Franklin, a similar but heavier and larger object fell in Haywood County, about 64 kilometres away.

Nasa does not comment on the incident. Expert speaks about a fragment of a SpaceX spacecraft

Mike Wooten believes the mysterious object fell from space. He says it is a fragment of a SpaceX spacecraft built in collaboration with Elon Musk's company and NASA.

Astronomer and astrophysicist Jonathan McDowell confirms Wooten's suspicion. The scientist claims that both elements may come from a spacecraft launched into space in August of last year.

He believes the smaller and larger objects may have been part of a whole but separated upon entering the atmosphere. However, neither NASA nor SpaceX has confirmed this information.

Scientists call discoveries like these "space debris." They threaten the cleanliness of space and can also cause problems on Earth. Uncontrolled impacts of such debris can lead to serious disasters.
