Ryan began his journey by browsing Ryanair's worst, one-star reviews. As he admitted in a YouTube video that has garnered over 10 million views, he had never seen such terrifying opinions.
I read things about falling off doors and pilots landing in the wrong countries; there were tons of them - the influencer recounted in his recording.
Despite such negative reviews, Ryanair is gaining in popularity, and its stock is rising, which puzzled Ryan.
During his film, Ryan cited, among others, a review from a passenger who compared the turbulence to “being thrown in a washing machine.” Another customer complained that they landed in a different country due to a pilot's mistake. “Is this really what flying Ryanair is like?” Ryan wondered.
The next thing Ryan decided to test was Ryanair's reaction to complaints on social media.
They’re famous for how they respond to people’s problems, laughing at them - admitted Ryan. To verify this, he posted a photo on X (formerly Twitter) before his flight, asking for a compliment. The carrier’s response came quickly: “So needy” - the airline wrote, confirming its reputation for sharp humor.
Ryanair redeemed?
After a safe landing, Ryan admitted with relief that most of the negative reviews did not reflect his experience. “The name of Ryanair has officially been redeemed” - he said, expressing satisfaction with his journey.
Ryan's video received widespread acclaim – it gathered over 15,000 comments. One person wrote: “I love that you risk your life for us.” Another viewer acknowledged: “I just love how he’s risking his life...for us." Another viewer admitted: "Ryanair has honestly got so much unnecessary hate. You don’t pay much at all, so don’t expect much amenities.”
Although for many Ryanair remains synonymous with cheap but not necessarily comfortable travel, Ryan Trahan showed that you don’t always have to follow the darkest opinions on the Internet.
