The BMP–2 is a Soviet design, succeeding the BMP–1 vehicles. The vehicle was first presented in 1982 during a parade in Red Square. BMP-2 designers focused mainly on modernizing the armament.

The vehicle's mass is about 14,400 kilograms, and its range is 600 kilometres. On roads, it reaches a maximum speed of 64 kilometres per hour. The BMP-2 can also move in water at up to 6 kilometres per hour.

The BMP-2 can accommodate up to 10 people. Its main task is transporting infantry and protecting soldiers from small arms fire. These types of vehicles were the primary infantry fighting vehicles in the armies of the former USSR.

Anton Heraszczenko, adviser to the head of the Ukrainian Ministry of Internal Affairs, reported online that the popular Russian vehicle lost the battle to a mine.

A Russian BMP-2 fighting vehicle with a landing force makes an unsuccessful attempt to pass through a mine barrier near the village of Berestove, Kupiansk district, Kharkiv region - he wrote on platform X.

In general, it can be seen that earlier in this location, Ukrainians blew up three Russian BMPs and one tank. This, however, did not stop subsequent vehicles from exploding.

What does the Russian vehicle look like?

The armament of these vehicles includes a 30-mm 2A42 automatic cannon, 7.62-mm PKT tank machine gun, 9M111 Fagot guided missile system, and 9M113 Konkurs anti-tank system.

The BMP-2 is a vehicle designed to operate alongside tanks. It has a smoke generator apparatus, fire protection, and active protection systems.
