"I think the Ukrainians have been incredibly brave and strong in standing up to Russia. But ultimately, what we're funding here is a stalemate, and it needs to be put to an end," Rubio said.
"I think common sense should prevail here," he added.
Donald Trump and his vice-presidential candidate, Ohio Senator J.D. Vance, have criticized the large amounts of money the United States has sent to Ukraine to bolster its defence.
Senator Rubio reminded everyone that Trump, who said he could end the conflict in Ukraine within 24 hours, "wants to end the war." "You don't have to be a fan of Vladimir Putin to want the war to end," he explained.
"100 years to rebuild Ukraine"
He also added that "Ukraine will need 100 years to rebuild the country."
According to "The Hill," Rubio is being considered as a potential Secretary of State in a Trump administration.
Even before the official results were announced, President Volodymyr Zelensky congratulated Donald Trump, the Republican Party's candidate, on his victory in the elections.
