Although a lot of controversy surrounds this fruit, avocados are still valued for their high content of vitamins, fibre, and unsaturated fatty acids. The disappointment is immense when, upon cutting open the avocado, it turns out to be hard. Fortunately, there's a solution for that.

Avocado is a popular fruit with many health benefits, especially for vegetarians and those on a weight-loss diet. A ripe avocado has a velvety, creamy texture that many people expect. Unfortunately, it's often the case that upon returning home, the fruit is not ripe enough. It's frustrating when you plan to prepare guacamole later that same day.

How to choose a soft avocado in the store?

You won't need to soften the avocado at home if you pay attention to a certain detail while in the store. Don't worry, you don't have to check every fruit with your fingers, although you might notice certain differences just by picking it up. However, to be sure of the right choice, it's worth looking at the spot where the stem was. If it's green, it's a sign that the avocado isn't ripe yet. A yellow colour means the fruit is just what you're dreaming of.

Unfortunately, sometimes ripe fruits are simply not available in the store. In that case, it's best to buy what's available because why should you abandon your plans? There are several ways to speed up the ripening of an avocado. Unfortunately, many of them require waiting for a few hours. To make the avocado soften in a short time, you should place it in the oven.
